The cliffs around the Lighthouse on the Great Orme are as big and intimidating as anywhere and they are often tricky to get to but the rewards are high.
Park at the Rest and Be Thankful cafe to access Point Five Buttress and Upper Pen y Gogarth.
For Craig Pen y Gogarth, Seal Point St. Tudno's and The Hornby Crags, continue past the Rest and Be Thankful cafe and park at an open grassy area on the left. Opposite the parking area is a gap in the wall. Go through the gap and head down a wide grassy gully on the right (facing out) which leads down towards the sea. Straight down this to the bottom is the approach for Craig Pen y Gogarth and Seal Point. The Two tiers of St. Tudno's are clearly visible on the right. The Hornby Crags start with the distinctive arch of Teal Wall on the left.
Restrictions apply from 1 March - 25 June.
Reason: Nesting Birds
Crescent Buttress, Upper and Lower Craig Pen Gogarth, St. Tudno's Lower are subject to seasonal restrictions.
Observatory Buttress and Central Buttress are not subject to any seasonal restrictions.
Bring super-glue. The old guide book recorded most of the routes on the upper tier as loose, and they weren't joking! Pete_Frost - 20/Nov/14 |
