The last Youth Plywood Masters took place before the COVID pandemic, and it’s back this weekend and is set to be bigger and better than ever!
Youth Plywood Masters was first introduced to create an opportunity for climbers, who are too young to compete in the Senior Plywood Masters event, to experience the unique fun, friendly and challenging atmosphere; where those new to formal competitions get to complete against some of the top youth climbers.
Youth D and B will compete on Saturday 13 April, with Youth C and A on Sunday 14 April, with separate categories for girls and boys.
During the qualifying round for each category, climbers will have 5 attempts on 8 blocs. The top 6 boys and top 6 girls from each category will then progress through to the finals. The final for each category will be run in the same format as a final in a European Youth Bouldering competition.
This year, the setting team is going to be headed up by Dave Barrans and will also include national-level setters Alex Fry, James Garden and Alice Thompson.
