The coastline south of Folly Cove is a complex area of small sea-level cliffs and jutting blocks, interspersed with rocky promontories and narrow zawns. There is worthwhile climbing here, making the area an ideal venue for the route ticker who wants to escape the crowds. Rock quality is generally impeccable and access straightforward.
From the car park in Porthwarra, take the road to the right, up the hill and through a gate. At the first left bend, carry straight-on along a footpath. The path leads across open country and arrives at a distinctive wall made up of huge rocks. From the seaward end of the wall, descend down grassy slopes to reach Black Carn. Blocks Promontory lies just to the south of Black Carn.
