Multi-pitch climbs up to 100m high direct from sea level. Rock is large-grained gneiss, which offers excellent grip though the crumbly feeling beneath your hands can leave you feeling unstable. Some bolts - though may be far apart, often only on belay ledges. Climbs are on east, north and west faces of this rocky promontory.
From the Messina-Palermo motorway exit at Patti and follow signposts for Palermo on the state road SS113. You will recognise the large headland of Capo Calava. There is parking for the east side routes in a small space just before the tunnel under the crag - climb over the guard-rail on the right to reach the crag. Through the tunnel, turn right to reach the beach, a campsite, and access to the west face routes.
