Climbs 72
Rocktype Limestone
Altitude 242m a.s.l
Faces SE
Well Protected (fix). Bolts a mix of ages. Mostly chains with a carabiner at top. A couple of routes looked to have a ring only on the chain. Sport Routes. Grades: 4-8a+
Some minor gardening may be required on some less popular routes in the central area. Lines away from the centre may require jungle trekking experience to reach.
There is a topo on a sign at the crag. Combined with the guidebook you can make a stab at guessing the route / grade you are going for. Neither is greatly accurate. The grades are a little off (both ways) but the climbs fun.
The crag is a brilliant sun trap of the morning and becomes shaded late lunchtime. There is shade afforded by the trees along the excellent path at the bottom however. There is also a tunnel that feeds back into the cliff and the road behind that affords shade / shelter. A water fountain, benches, tables, toilets and floodlighting have been provided.
Walking Distance from Menaggio. Best to park at the far end of the tunnel (leaving Menaggio on Via Armando Diaz) and walk back along the cliff side cycle/foot path. There is free parking here in a layby and a bus stop too.
The local gov have made a decent effort here: the crag is served by a paved footpath and is 100m from the road. There's benches, a water fountain and toilets at the crag. There's floodlighting for the evening.
Parking is tight, but otherwise access is encouraged with good amenities.
