Felix Lütkenherm and Mario Senke on the North Ridge of the Fußstein, Zillertaler Alps, Austria © Alexander Thorp
The Fußstein is best known for exactly one route, its famous North Ridge. Much less frequently climbed are the Aschenbrenner/Mariner and the Fluch/Brankowski routes.
Approach from the Geraer Hut.
Descent: walk southwards along the summit ridge then downclimb (exposed and dangerous) or abseil 40m to a ledge from where it is possible to reach a narrow col on the ridge leading southwards to the Schramacher. From here scramble 700m down the walls above the corrie southwest of the Fußstein (red and blue paint markings). 2-3 hours back to hut.
