Two areas are described here: Miriam Farm Rocks are excellent, but suffer from an unwelcoming owner. Garden Buttress is okay and climbing is allowed as long as you ask for permission.
Garden Buttress is approached through the garden of the last house on the left (The Woodlands). Obviously, permission to climb must be sought at the house, whose occupants are surprisingly co-operative as long as numbers are kept to a minimum and visits are not too frequent.
Access has previously been banned due to the proximity of the owner's house.
Recent negotiations have established a tentative arrangement allowing access on the basis of good behaviour. Permission should be gained ahead of a visit as described below.
As this crag is very close to the owner's house it is extremely important that visitors behave accordingly. This means:
Apparently the woman who owns these rocks can be persuaded to let you climb.... as long as you are nice and knock on her door to ask... she is a teacher at a local school and has told a friend of mine she will get rid of climbers if they dont ask...... reasonable i guess. ashsteventon - 22/Mar/05 |
