Update: 10/08/2016 Lower Crag, Far from the madding crowd E2, now clean and worth 3*
Two main areas, Upper and Lower Tiers. Good routes in a remote, peaceful and stunning setting.
Up to 44m high on several buttresses providing varied climbing across the middle grades.
Desperate Remedies(E4), Stern Test(E5), Far from the Madding Crowd(E2) , Responsibility(E1) are all nice routes.
Many of the routes follow great lines but can occasionally be dirty.
Being close to Penrith and the M6 this crag provides an adventurous alternative for the NE Lakes climbing scene.
15 Minutes above Thrang Farm in the Martindale Valley.
Park in the lay-by near the old church.
Follow the road left down the valley and take the small path from the right of the road through the bracken.
