Vassura has a central, but also hidden, role in the history of climbing on Kvaløya. Before the dawn of indoor climbing the relatively easy access to Vassura made it a popular place for local climbers to practice their aid and winter climbing skills in the cold of the autumn nights. Although one can not really boast about been here and climbed, the pre-indoor-climbing scene in Tromsø had very little to discuss but Vassura in the late autumn season, therefore the brag to meters-climbed factor was sky high. It still is a very suitable place for aid climbing, but activity has definitely decreased. It his home to the famous Stortaket, one of the biggest roofs on Kvaløya -- it still awaits its first free ascent.
Most routes go hammerless these days!
Short approach but quite steep. Getting on the ledge to start climbing can be a bit tricky.
