This is the theatre where the roots and history of Squamish were founded, and the home of the greatest collection of long climbs. These towering walls form a magnificent sight, vast sweeps of boilerplate granite, soaring dihedrals, powerful cracklines, sinuous dykes, and sweeping aprons. It is an iconic sight for climbers the world over and the millions of travellers who've passed by on the highway below.
The West Chief is described in three areas: the Apron, the Grand Wall and the Dihedrals. The easier climbing to mid-5.10 lies on the Apron, and the Dihedrals has the greatest concentration of hard climbs.
All routes are described from left-to-right as in line with UKC, and thus the order of routes and crags may not always be identical to the guidebooks.
