The Quark will see you up most ice climbing routes and has a moveable trigrest but is a bit short when it comes to walking with it.
The Light machine is not as agressive but still very good on easy climbing (G1/G2) the sliding trigrest arrangement on the light machine isn't that great an arrangement. I think its better suited as an accessory for walking. I removed this leash and fitted a grivel horn to the bottom and a petzl trigrest to the shaft for climbing easy stuff.
Dependant on your aspirations and exected future use you might also want to look at the Petzl Sumtec I think this is possibly the best axe for walking and low grade winter routes.
