I'm new to climbing and looking to see if there any local climbing groups in or around folkestone?

You may also find a none BMC affiliated group/ club through something like meetup.com.

Yeah there isn't alot down here but this year 3 gyms are opening up in the area so hopefully it will improve

Your best bet would be to get a crew together from the local walls and then affiliate to the BMC (they negotiate access to crags, help improve the standard of equipment and provide 3rd party liability insurance in the event of an accident amongst many other things).

Running a club is definitely hard work but can also be hugely rewarding.

There is a wall in Ashford, open Monday and Thursday nights, 1800-2200.

Google "The North School Climbing". We're from Folkestone, and the wife and I climb there. Really friendly environment, 10m wall, plenty of variety.
