A lovely isolated alcove, mostly dedicated to short trad routes and bouldering, with a small handful of sport climbs available. Best to bring a few pads and a spotter for some of the buttresses. The rock can be sharp and snappy in some areas. Tidal access
Full route descriptions and topo for Backhill Point can be found on Martin Crocker's website in his Layde Bay guide: https://www.martincrockerclimbing.com/
Further bouldering information can be found in Great Western Rock's guide: Esoteric Bouldering in the Bristol Region.
Route names and grades overlap between the two available guides and an effort has been made to ensure continuity.
Park/walk as for Ladye Bay. Walk down the steps from the road to the top of the main steps that lead down to Ladye Bay; then continue walking north up the thin path which will sharply bend right. Carry on for around 250m and take a left and walk down the first fisherman's path. The crag will be visible on your left when you reach the bottom of the path.
Scramble down the path of least resistance on your left to reach the base of Backhill Point. Continue back south to reach the Wave-Cut Platform Boulders and other faces further down.
For Kings of New England Cave, follow the same path for Backhill Point from the top of Ladye Bay's steps, but instead of taking the bend right carry on forward, straight through the bushes - arriving at Ladye Point. Keep right and scramble downwards to reach the cave on your right.
