Mark Glaister about to summit on the super sustained Widecombe Wall (E2) at Chinkwell Tor © Bridget Glaister
The square-cut west-facing buttress downhill from Chinkwell Tor is home to a few tricky extreme pitches including the classic Widecombe Wall. The crag has a pleasant outlook over the Webburn River valley and Widecombe. You are unlikely to meet anyone else despite its proximity to Bonehill Rocks.
Approach and park as for Bonehill Rocks at the third car park. Follow the path over the hill past Bell Tor to reach the crest after half a mile or so and then descend leftwards to reach the buttress.
