This is the large crag overlooking the deep trench and vast sloping platform of the Wash. The vast majority is south-facing, non-tidal, and of easy access. As such, it is a pleasant and unintimidating place to climb. Most of the climbing in the easier grades is on lower tiers or the left and right wings that flank the stupendous central section, up which several brilliant hard routes venture. A must visit area for all leaders climbing at E6 and above and a good area to train before the total commitment of Mount Sion Central.
Approach from Stack Rocks in 10-15 mins.
The crag is in Range West, an Army live-firing range. Briefed climbers (with a valid permit) can access the crag year round when range is not firing (all weekends & on Bank Holidays plus some weekdays). Night firing normally occurs on Tuesday & Thursday but may also alternate to Monday & Wednesday.
Dates: 1 March to 1 August
Reason: Nesting Birds
There is a seasonal restriction affecting the East Face on the following routes 'H Bomb' to 'Address Book' inclusive (routes 55-63 in CC guide)
