Climbs 9
Rocktype Granite
Altitude 1939m a.s.l
Faces SW
A big slab with 1 to 7 pitch routes above the Grimselsee. A sea-cliff element to some routes, abseils into the start required. Climbs with french grades from Plaisir West, small rack still required. Climbs with UIAA grade from Bernese Oberland AC guide (1993 edition) and potentially more serious.
Park at the end of the Grimselsee near to the Hospice. The crag is visible from there.
August 2020: NOTE THAT THE NORTHERLY DAM IS BEING REPLACED, IT IS NOT ALLOWED TO WALK ACROSS THE DAM FROM THE HOSPICE TO ACCESS THE CRAG (if you feel like chancing it, the periodic use of explosives should be taken into consideration!). One can always walk up and down from the hospice, but it might possible to park below the dam near the construction works.
Approach time: 15 mins
