The place where bouldering was born in Sintra, not to be missed, contains some classic boulders in a beautiful part of the forest. The area is very shady and takes a long time to dry. It is one of the best options for hot days and even during summer it can be chilly. Predominance of slopers and compression boulders. Some blocs can be mossy.
From Sintra, head west on the N247-3. Turn left at the Capuchos cross, then at the Malveira junction, turn right and follow the signs to Peninha. The boulders will appear by the road near to the picnic area. The excellent Sintra Bouldering Guidebook (2021) contains all the details.
