A quiet crag set high on the hill overlooking Glasgow and the Kilpatricks. Most of the climbing is on the square buttress at Jenny's Lum with a collection of low to mid-grade routes up to 12 metres.
Park at the Blanefield War Memorial. Either walk to the end of the houses, follow the track onto the open hill then traverse back across to the crag. If you don't mind gorge-walking, follow the burn direct to the crag, which is much better when the bracken is up.
Took advantage of some winter sun and climbed up to this crag today. It's quite a strenuous approach (approx 300m height gain from where you park) but the crag itself is great. Very atomspheric. We climbed couple of the easier Severes - quite a bit of loose rock but most of it small pebbles. Definitely wear a helmet and belay out of the fall line! Belays need some imagination but are possible. drconline - 02/Jan/21 |
