On the southern flank of Ben Vorlich close to the road, just above the power station, this crag offers excellent sunny routes on an impressive slabby wall. Several 3-star routes Charge of the Light Brigade(E35c), White Meter(E45c) and Autumn Arete(HVS) give fine climbing.
Park beyond the Power Station in a large layby (good tea-bar usually in residence) and go under the railway and gently uphill along the tarmac track for 30 minutes to the sub station. The crag is just beyond on the right.
Brilliant little crag. The main slab routes are as good as any of the best slab climbing in the UK. Steady walk and pleasant situation if you don't mind the substation, too. Fiend - 01/May/09 |
