Numerous sectors along the N260 (which parallels the Noguera Pallaresa river), between 5km and 15km NW of La Pobla de Segur. The riverside crags are useful for the summer months as the gorge is deep and many are E facing.
Cine: a long band of conglomerate set high above the road and to the N; a fun place to climb.
La Terrasseta: a small limestone crag, overlooking the river and the old road, outside the 1st tunnel.
La Pedrera: this limestone crag is the only one on the S (E) bank of the river and must be accessed using Tyrolean techniques on an in-situ cable. It lies opposite La Terrasseta.
The next 3 sectors lie above the old road and outside the 2nd tunnel (travelling from La Pobla)
L'Argenteria: limestone, a good number of single and 2-pitch routes.
El Primer Vol: a small limestone crag set back in a rocky gully.
Al Niu: a useful limestone crag for those climbing at IV/V; well equipped.
La Costoia: set back and high to the N of the road.
Use nearest available parking areas on the main road. Don't be tempted to park along the old road sections, you may be fined!
The lines, grades and names in the lleida climbs guidebook don't match what we found at the left hand end of cine. We also found the climbs we did at the right hand end to be better quality. Ed Babs - 28/Apr/11 |
