βeta: Route Description: Approach: From the Wasdale carpark, follow the normal path for Yewbarrow up the ridge, the path will tend left and head towards the Overbeck crags. Go through a gate in a fence and then follow the fence line back towards the lake until it reaches the stone wall, this is the foot of the scramble. Head straight up the hill, aiming for the prominent tower on the skyline, threading small portions of clean rock together interspersed with steep grassy hill. There are many lines than can be taken here, to reach the foot of the main tower. At the foot of the main tower, head to the right hand side of the buttress where a line of good holds go up and diagonally left. Follow this line to reach a small ledge in line with the ridge. Continue directly up and slightly right from here on good holds until a steep wall is reached where you can step back left onto a large shelf feature. Continue directly upwards from here until the top of the crag. (note: this is my interpretation of the route, given the lack of description but it is the correct difficulty). | βeta? | |
