Crag features

Two tiers of short sandstone crags west of the summit, giving pleasant easy climbing in a fine location. A small tor near the south summit (Meall a' Chasteil) has a selection of micro routes / easy boulder problems. Route descriptions can be found at https://routes.smc.org.uk/

Approach notes

Park at the crest of the hill west of Polbain (NB 992104). Walk SE along the road for 250m to the Polbain road sign, and take the path head NE, marked by wooden posts to the col between Meall a' Chasteil and Meall an Fheadain. This point can also be reached by a path from the east end of the village. The Meall a' Chasteil tor is situated just to the south of the col. For the main crags, follow the path N to the summit, then drop down west, bearing slightly left to reach the upper tier, and then down again and right to the more extensive lower tier. The lower tier can also be reached by traversing left across rough ground from the col, but a visit to the summit with its outstanding panoramic views is recommended!  20-25 mins.
