Several buttresses 35-100m high. Express Crack(E1), Hogs Back(MVS), Dandle Buttress(D), Sadgill Wall(MS). Mixed routes in winter, rarely in condition.
(Dandle Buttress seems to have had serious rockfall on first pitch - probably after winter 2018. An alternative approach up the pinnacle and onto the slab on the right is needed.)
Thirty minute easy walk from the end of the tarmac in Longsleddale.
Dates: 15 February to 31 May
Reason: Nesting Birds
Both raven and peregrine have nested here in the past, but in recent years they have switched nest sites to Goat Scar on the opposite side if the valley where there are no climbs. There is no restriction on Buckbarrow, however if the birds do return in future a restriction may be needed.
Raven were reported as nesting on Sadgill Wall in 2019, but on a later site visit a nest couldn't be identified. Please report any sightings of nesting raven (or peregrine) to [email protected].
