Foaming Fells Crag; known as Swallow Falls Buttress from a mistranslation of 'ewynnol': a similar word 'gwennol', is the Welsh for a swallow.
The crag overlooks the spectacular Swallow Falls gorge, and from the hotel on the A5 it is easily visible on the opposite side of the river. It is best reached by using the footpath from Ty Hyll (Ugly House) bridge,a km upstream. Follow the path along side the River Llugwy to the fall, where it becomes fenced. After another 200m the rockface can be seen above the path.
The Cliff, which faces south is an atmospheric place. The routes described keep to the steepest and most compact area of good rock. Elsewhere the crag is more broken and vegetated. Decent is easiest to the left; alternativley to return to the Ugly House, a forestry track immediatley behind can be taken.
