Edmunds Castle, centre of crag © crisp
The crag is a short walk from YHA Helvellyn and other accommodation at Greenside mines.
As described on page 235 of the F&RCC Guide for Buttermere and Eastern Crags the guidebook it is a small crag of sound rough rock which is excellent for beginners or climbers looking for an evenings entertainment.
From Greenside Mine, the crag is clearly visible above the corner of the wood on the south side of the beck. Follow the track upstream to a bridge. Cross the beck and return downstream to the wood where a ruined wall leads directly up to the crag. From Glenridding follow the high path on the south side of the valley to below the crag.
No access issues.
