Nab End is a small, steep, broken quarry. The routes range mostly from HS to HVS, with a few harder lines sprinkled amongst them. The routes require some serious application and speed.
There are two sectors: Sunny Side Up a nice west-facing bit and a slightly less nice north-facing bit It's Grim Up North which will nearly always benefit from the application of a brush and some elbow grease. There are solid stakes for the Sunny Side Up area, but you will need your imagination for the rest.
Park in the small lay-by on Waters Road opposite the entrance to The Hay Green Hotel (now permanently closed), cross the stile and follow the footpath westwards uphill.
So is Pule Hill, Shooters Nab and other Standedge Area crags from the Lancashire Brick - they are being adopted into the new Moorland Grit. Alex Thompson - 11/Oct/10 |
