Crag features

On the one hour approach mark from the top station, San Carlos is one of the main summits in the vicinity of Fuente Dé cable car.

Classic, easy to mid grade climbs; a winter gully on its North face, rock routes on its South face. San Carlos is a popular and great place to be in all year round.

Approach notes

From the top station of the cable car:

Head into the Canal de San Luís for the S face (approx 1 hour).

Follow the Vueltona track, over a small col and traverse mid slope above Hoyo sin Tierra for the N face (approx 1hr 30).

Access Advice

Fuente Dé cable car:

Check seasonal schedules. At the time of writing (2024), year on year the cable car is becoming more popular and busier. If visiting in July/August, consider booking in advance to secure the desired time slot; do not expect to "arrive and ride".

Missing or not using the cable car adds 2 hours and 750 m of height gain, on the Jenduda or Hachero trails.
