Sections of rock interspersed between caves & vegetation (be aware of thorn like shrubs). There are 15 routes described in the Malta Rock Climbing Comprehensive Guide (2007 Edition).
Some routes may look a bit dubious in places for the quality of rock.
When travelling along the Mellieha Bypass going West on the outskirts. You will come to a roundabout on the West Side of Mellieha. Go right at the roundabout going down Triq Edward Camilleri. Take the first Left down the road called Triq L-Assedju L-Kbir. This road goes around & brings you back to where you turned onto it. Drive around until you see a break in the wall with a single dusty road/track leading down towards the top of the crags. Park sensibly on the Triq L-Assedju L-Kbir road.
The crags are situated on your left side going down the dirt track a few hundred meters. A path leads to the far left side of the crag passing some small walled shooting bays (shotgun cartridges littering the place by the sides of them). The path becomes overgrown but still recognisable which goes into a cave. Go into the cave and out of the last main opening. The off-width crack on your right which splits the central pillar of the cave openings is classed as a VS 4c called Frenzy. First climbed by Allen Hill on the 25.12.1987.
Go out from the cave and scramble your way leftwards through spikey shrubs and boulders to a huge boulder that was once the roof of a cave. Make your way down & around the huge boulder/s and you will arrive to a large terrace below an overgrown lower section and cleaner upper part.
The valley is Private and used for Agriculture. No access problems have been experienced. But if someone confronts you. Please be kind & courteous and explain on why you are here and that you wish to rock climb. Don't leave litter etc.
