Climbs 8
Rocktype Limestone
Altitude 2518m a.s.l
Faces SW
Four large limestone buttresses, the large central '1ere Tour' holding most of the climbs - fully equipped bolted climbs, easier sections may seem run-out.
Descent generally least problematic by rappel back to the base of the routes, since getting off the back of the buttresses to walk-off involves several short rappels and pitches of climbing
From Saint Chauffery drive up the hairpins of the D234T until you reach a parking/picnic area at Saint Joseph at a sharp right-hand bend. You can drive a further 1km along the piste track toward the Refuge de Buffere until a barrier blocks vehicular progress. Park here (room for 3 cars?) and continue on foot to Col de Buffere, then continue contouring leftwards on a narrower footpath, past one bowl (dont go up here), and into the large Vallon de la Moullete. The cliffs make it obvious you have arrived. Final scree ascent to the base.
Approach time: 2 hours
Keep dogs under control as livestock herds are protected by (large) guard-dogs.
