Superman 8B by Shauna Coxsey

Shauna Coxsey has climbed her tenth 8B with an ascent of Superman (f8B) at Cressbrook in Derbyshire. The crimpy limestone problem was originally climbed by Jerry Moffatt and was re-climbed by Tim Clifford after a left hand-hold break.

"A peak classic I was almost sure I'd never do. A true finger strength test piece for sure. Proud of this one!" Shauna wrote on Instagram.

Since retiring from competition climbing after Tokyo 2020 and becoming a mother in 2022, Shauna has focused on outdoor bouldering.

So far this year, she has climbed three 8B+s and four 8Bs, including making the first female ascent of Hazel Grace in Switzerland's Gotthard Pass last month (UKC News).

In May, Shauna became the first woman to climb 8B+ on British soil with her ascent of The Boss at Yarncliffe (UKC News).

The question is: will she return for the Superman Sit Start (f8B+) at 8B+?

Thought we weren't meant to be advertising sends at these crags with undisclosed locations, or is that old news?

What's the issue with the crag? Is it just rare flora and fauna in the area or something more complicated?

It's a local crag for local people. There's nothing there for you.

Things seem to have settled down in recent years, so there aren't the issues of yesteryear. That said, the usual caveats apply - if you go there please be respectful of the local community, park considerately, and keep noise to a minimum.

I'm (relatively) local, but given how hard everything is there I can assure you that there's nothing there for me either 😂
