Is the COROS Vertix 2S The Ultimate Watch for Climbers?

Climbing is inherently difficult to track, or at least it has been until now, with the introduction of the COROS Vertix 2S changing that. Here we take a deep dive into its application for climbers and mountaineers.

Product videos allow us to give our expert opinion on the latest outdoor products. They are provided as a service to our readers and companies that advertise with UKClimbing Ltd.

Really cool watch and love the features. a mate has one and I'm very envious.

I inherently hate wearing anything on my wrists when climbing though. Makes me wince when I see people climb with a watch or jewellery on. Unsure why!

Either way, such a cool product and the accompanying app really is amazing.

If you were brought up on gritstone you don't wear a watch.

Much like you I can't stand climbing with a watch on, but I think that's why COROS have cracked it, as the carabiner/heart rate monitor allow you to carry it elsewhere - either on your harness or in a pocket.

If there were to be a caveat to that it's that it comes at a price, although in the context of top end 'sports wearables' the Vertix 2S is actually it's in the same ballpark as all the other big players: COROS Vertix 2S £599 Suunto Vertical £545-725 Garmin Fenix 7S Pro - £519-739

The written review will be published shortly, where I'll go into more detail on its relevance to hillwalkers/runners.

Sorry, I meant to reply to this within my previous post.

Credit where it's due to COROS, I have never seen a brand be more proactive with updating their software than they are. Since I reviewed the Vertix 2 in 2022 both the device itself and the accompanying App have been significantly updated/upgraded. These aren't minor updates either, they're major improvements.

Again, I'll go into more detail about this within the written review...

I definitely fall into the camp of wanting to wear my watch externally.

as opposed to internally… or in any sort of Pulp Fiction wristwatch scenario.
