Hamish McArthur Wins Gold in IFSC Youth World Championships
Great Britain's Hamish McArthur (19) has won gold in the IFSC Junior Boulder World Championship in Voronezh, Russia. This was Hamish's best result in a competition after he took silver at the 2019 IFSC Youth World Championships.
Finishing ahead of Japan's Rei Kawamata (18) and France's Paul Jenft (18), Hamish was the only climber to top all four boulders in the final. GBR's Dayan Akhtar also made the final and placed 5th - a fantastic result for the 17-year-old in his first international competition.
Over the past couple of years, Hamish has been dipping his toes into the senior Lead events and has been very successful in his first few competitions. In the 2019 European Championships in Edinburgh, he made the semi-finals in Lead and placed 15th. In this year's Lead World Cups, he has placed 29th in Chamonix and 19th in Briançon. All eyes will be on Hamish over the next few years!
