Following the Boulder & Lead semi-finals of the second round of the Olympic Qualifier Series in Budapest, three GB Climbing athletes have earned provisional quota places for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games next month. Pending IOC approval, Erin McNeice, Hamish McArthur and Molly Thompson-Smith will join their teammate Toby Roberts, who qualified in Laval last year, to form a full-quota Boulder & Lead team for Great Britain in Paris.

After adding the ranking points from both rounds in Shanghai and Budapest, the top twelve eligible Boulder & Lead athletes per sex - which includes the top ten eligible climbers plus two unused Host and Universality places - earn provisional tickets which will be confirmed by the IOC/NOCs following Sunday's finals.

In the semi-final round, the majority of places were provisionally secured. Erin finished 5th in the semi-final and is provisionally ranked 3rd overall ahead of tomorrow's final; Molly finished 11th in the semi-final and ranked 11th overall, while Hamish placed 10th and is provisionally ranked 7th overall.

Erin won bronze in Shanghai and is guaranteed a top-eight finish in the Budapest round - and a top-ten finish overall - in the final tomorrow morning from 8:25 a.m.

In the finals, the overall rankings will be confirmed and the French men's quota places decided. Currently, the three French athletes Paul Jenft, Sam Avezou and Mejdi Schalck are all in the running to fill the two quota places for their country, depending on Avezou and Schalck's rankings after the final.

All quota places are provisional until confirmed by the IOC/NOCs.

Brilliant! Well done, to whoever may or may not have done what in Budapest. 😉

Absolutely brilliant news from Budapest (subject to official ratification). Spent the afternoon glued to the live stream and didn't begrudge one moment of a sunny Saturday when I could have been climbing.

Huge congratulations to all the athletes! Cheers, Dom

So cool to have (potentially 😉) more than one GB athlete to support in Paris!

This althlete (these unconfirmed athletes) are building on the success of Shauna and it will be interesting to see what GB climbers can achieve over the next 20 years with some proper funding i.e. similar to the other leading climbing nations.

Where can I find the video of the final please?

Either it doesn't exist or I'm being really stupid.

Si.
